Safaricom Women in Business
Rita Njuguna

Founder and a Partner at Go Gaga Experiential conferencing event, training and brand management firm.

I am a strategist and marketing guru having worked for the last 18 years both locally and internationally in the Telco marketing space thus enabling me to have the cutting edge experience to start a firm that offers unique value and brand proposition.

We have been able as a firm to acquire a franchise to ran the biggest Digital and Technology conference globally know as Social Media Week, with Nairobi being the second country in Africa. Social Media Week Nairobi (SMW Nairobi) has been running for the last 3 years being an intersection where professionals are able to advance themselves and their organisations in a globally connected world through the shared insights, ideas and opportunities at the conference.

I have had the opportunity of working with both local and international brands such as Twitter, Ad Dynamo, Blue Robot, Oath, Facebook, Safaricom, Intel, LinkedIn, Turn Left Media, Meltwater, Google Kenya, BCS Group to name a few.

Being a conferencing event firm we have curated our own events such as Zuri Awards and Digital Media Awards. Zuri Awards is in its second year, celebrating women and organisations who are bringing change by their work in their communities - the unsung heroes every International Women’s Day. Digital Media Awards on the other hand in its first year, celebrates and legitimises the work being done by individuals, brands and agencies in the Digital and Technology space.

My key driving forces are empowerment, education and mentorship having been brought up by a mother who is an Electrical Engineer and was the first from Embu County. I have learnt that a woman has no boundaries and this has come to light more and more in my life having to integrate work and life in to my day to day running.

Mentorship comes second to nature as I have always had women as my pillars in my career. My partner is my sister and we basically have women working with us. I believe as a woman I need to support another woman and this is a reality as my past is normally a story to support someones present.

I believe in partnerships and the next steps for us is to concur Africa with other women. With the three driving forces anything is possible and we have ensured this is part of our business.
